Hi people,

Just to let you all know, we are aware of the problem Maxmus is experiencing (See screen shot below).

The staff team believe that this could be a direct attack at Maxmus, in order to prevent us from connecting to the MXit service.

We are currently working as hard as we can to resolve this matter.

To keep you updated, we will post any news we have in this topic.

Thank you for understanding,

Regards,

The xera Team

After a bit of searching, we have found this post on the MXit forums.

We cannot confirm whether or not their system upgrades are causing the error.

Greetings Communicators,

The MXit_Team is going to be working on some serious system upgrades which could possibly cause a bit of downtime, maybe online-offline presence issues, unexpected errors and even strange behaviour.

Thank you in advance for your co-operation.

Regards,

Hi Rob!

Should we not wait for mXit to complete their system upgrades before attempting to fix Maxmus?

If they are modifying their code, it'd be pointless to attempt to make modifications that they themselves might change the next hour, and if they are modifying their hardware, Maxmus would not be able to connect regardless.

If, once all their upgrades are finished, it STILL gives the error message, then maybe it should be looked at code-wise.

how unfortanate, sounds like mxit is just destroying maxmus, cause they don't like it, maybe we're overloading their server and giving mxit pc a bad name, i think they're doing this to smight us all, they want us to use mxit pc or something,

Hi,

What version does maxmus pretend to be when logging in?
For example if you pretend to be version 3 you won't be able to login and would give you a please upgrade message like you get.

It's not overloading or blocking issues.

Thanks,

David

Thanks for the posts, everyone.

Reelix, I agree with what you say.

Hey David! ..

I am able to login on my one phone, but not on my other phone, so I do not entirely suspect that mxit is blocking maxmus....

however, we are experiencing some extreme difficulties when getting maxmus to work with mxit.. And I don't know who we have to thank for this?

In order for maxmus to login, we have been downloading a jad from the mxit website (Please see Maxmus README and FAQ)
We have been using versions 5.0.8, 5.1, 5.3, 5.4, etc

but now when we download a jad, it says "client cannont be validated" etc same old error that so many people seem to encounter.

Any advice or help you can give us is really appreciated

thanks,
xera

i don't think that's the cause of the problem david, i'm sure when mxit is finished with the upgrades it will work again, but if it doesn't then we have great problems becuase i dowloaded mxit elite and it doesn't have the jad number in it, and i copied the discription of the jad file to use it as that number,

it didn't work,
let me check in note pad,
no luck, seems the mxit confederation has nothing else to do than to mess around,
seems it working on midlet, and it's got certificates, so if they decide to do away with all the older mxit versions from 5.8 and lower, xera is going to have alot of working out to do and rewriting on the software, it shouldn't take more than a week,
but i'm sure when the upgrading is done it will work again, but i don't like the way the happy days message is interprated,
it looks like a similar error message to that of mxit 3.0,
let me quickly try this, download mxit 5.6 and then retry it,
no, that doesn't work either,

--edit--

the cannot be validated error message is, that, you can only use one number for a mxit profile, so if you login with your number, and then you try to login with a different number you recieve that error message, you have to download another jad file then it will work, what you need to do on a jar emulator is just download mxit 5.6 from mxit and put it into the jar emulator, that's what i did but it didn't want to show the icons, see when jar emulators got mxit for itself, it's working on one number and mxit disabled this and that destroyed the nabster aswel,

i think,

Hi,

With 5.8 and 5.3.1 and up the key isn't in the jad anymore, but gets fetched via http calls at runtime and saved in RS, which means you don't have to do the copying from jad thing if you do the http calls in maxmus and show the captcha inside maxmus to get the key!
Much better and easier.

The keys aren't as simple as that, because there are two datacenters and the key should come from the right datacenter.
But with the upgrades this week it should work on either one.

MXit can't do away with mxit 5.3 because some phones can only run that version, so mxit won't block that.

Hey David!

Great news... if we don't have to manually download the jars... it'll be like the wonderful days of v2 and (v3.0.5) again..

unless there's some other catch that I don't know about..

If possible, please could you let me know how to opperate these datacenteres.. or even just a pointer would be great..

thanks

Hope you guys can sort this one out.
P.S. Any chance we could be seeing '3.12' released sometime in the near future? :P
