Maxmus is an application written in C# .NET that connects to and communicates directly with the MXit server.

Where can I download Maxmus?
Click here to download the latest version

Requirements for Windows XP:
Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 - Size is 22.4 MB
Please download and try Maxmus first, as you may already have the .NET Framework 2.0 installed.
Note: Vista has this installed by default. To check if it's installed in XP, go to "Add or Remove Programs" and look for "Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0" in the list. If it's there, then it's installed.

Methods of logging in:
    Method 1: (Preferred)
      1. Visit http://www.mxit.co.za/wap
      2. Download and save the JAD for version 5.0.8, or 5.3.0
      • On MXit's website, if it says not detected, then click previous versions. Choose a version like 5.3.0. Select a phone model (eg, your phone). Then either click new user, or click already existing, and download the normal jad for that version. Rename the jad file, so that it's easier to locate next time, in case you need it again.
      3. Open Maxmus
      4. Click: Maxmus -> Options -> Login
      5. Disable: Max hack
      6. Enter your login details, click: Load from JAD file, then locate and select the JAD file you downloaded. The ClientID should now appear.
      7. Click: Update Login.
    Method 2:
Multiple Accounts and Logins:
At the moment, there is only support for multiple accounts if you use Maxhack.
If you would like to chat from two accounts at the same time, you must put a copy of Maxmus in two different folders, and setup your accounts from there.

Login, Cancel button:
Use the Login button to login.
After you have clicked Login, the button will appear to say "Cancel"
Clicking Cancel is the same as pressing the red phone key on your phone. It does not logout. Instead it terminates the connection with MXit with immediate effect.

Presence Menu's:
The presense menu's will normally change your presence, except the 'Offline' presence is the same as clicking Logout.

Moods:
If you can't see your contacts moods, or they can't see yours, then you could try changing your platform version.
Change the version here: Maxmus -> Options -> Login -> Platform
I believe that version "E-5.1.0" works.
Don't forget to click "Update Login" after changing!

Menu's that are always "unavailable":
I'm afraid that these menu's will always be unavailable in your current version. Hope to get them working in future versions!

Work Mode:
Not activated yet, read about it here.

SFX button:
Applies a few text effects to the text in the message input text box.
To try it out, type some text into the text box, click the button, and select an item on the menu.

Maxmus Broadcast:
Maxmus includes it's own moolah free broadcast function.
To use the broadcast, enter some text into the message text box, and right click on a group, and select either
Broadcast, or Broadcast only to online
Due to the fast message limit, the broadcast function cannot send to all contacts at once. Instead, it sends to all contacts one by one, in ascending order, with a period of 3 seconds inbetween each message.

Ignore Contact:
Right click a contact to get to the ignore meu. The Ignore option will simpy completely discard a contacts messages until you either click it again to disable it, or restart the application.

Auto Replies:
Maxmus Auto Replies can be set to respond to incoming messages.
Please read: How Maxmus v3 Auto Replies work

Proxy:
Maxmus supports an HTTP Proxy.
If you have an HTTP Proxy, but it doesn't work, then please post the name of the proxy server into the Bugs thread, and I will see what I can do.

Privacy:
Maxmus does not collect any private information. Your MXit ID and pin are saved on your computer, and are only used for logging in to the MXit server.
However, after downloading Maxmus, you should use Maxmus at your own risk, and own responsibility.
